A look at the week...

At small groups this week, we sorted dinosaurs my multiple attributes (color and type together), we worked on counting syllables in words using pennies, and we made dinosaur fossils!!

We went outside and measured how big dinosaurs really were!

We made dinosaur skeletons using dry pasta!

We made dinosaurs using paper plates!

Check out our construction worker hats!

Miss Carolyn did a science experiment with us where we made lava lamps!

And...we made a stegosaurus snack using a banana, cereal, and chocolate chips!

All About Dinosaurs!

We drew dinosaurs by watching Mrs. Heather and copying the line she made!  We are practicing for the Animated Alphabet drawings we will do in kindergarten!!

We predicted whether or not we thought our entire class could fit a footprint on a giant dinosaur footprint!  Most of us thought we could!  Then, we tested our theory by tracing everyone's footprint on a dinosaur footprint.  Our guess was right!  The whole class fit and we even had some space left over!!

We also made a volcano with baking soda and vinegar!  So fun!  After we made our volcano, we drew pictures of what we saw!

We also read a story about how scientists CAREFULLY dug up dinosaur bones.  To practice their technique, we used a toothpick to "excavate" candy pieces from cookies!

Coming up next week...dinosaur fossils, observing the ACTUAL size of dinosaurs, lava lamps, a stegosaurus snack, dinosaur skeletons made with pasta, and so much more!

100th Day Celebration!!

We had so much fun celebrating the 100th Day of School!  During small groups, we divided into 3 teams and estimated how many objects we had in a bucket.  After estimating the objects, we counted them using a 100 chart and determined if we had more than, less than, or equal to 100 items.  Each group took a turn sharing their work and then we hung our charts in the hall!

We also made a chart of 100 things we would like to have and 100 things we would NOT like to have!!  We made pictures of us at 100 years old, too!! Both of these projects were sooo funny!!

And...we took a 100s walk!  We left our classroom and counted 100 steps to see where we would end up.  Each time we got to a door, a turn, or a hallway, the students chose which way to go!  We marked the end of our journey with tiny footprint cut-outs!

We also got to explore our 100 collections!  Some of us even shared things we brought!

We celebrated Breanna's birthday!

And...we got a treat of 100 pieces of candy!!  Each student had to count 10 pieces of candy from each of 10 dishes!

Yes...it's true!  We are 100 days smarter!!!!!
