Bark, George!

Today, our class read Bark, George to go along with our pet unit.  In this story, George's mother asks him to bark, but what comes out definitely isn't a bark!  Instead, George meows, quacks, oinks, and moos.  His concerned mother decides to take him to the vet, who saves the day by pulling a cat, duck, pig, and cow out of George.  Finally, George can bark again!  On the way home from the vet's office, George's mother wants to show off his restored bark to the people on the street so she again asks him to bark...and this time his response is "hello"!  You can only imagine the laughter over this story!!

After reading the story, we had volunteers act out the story in front of the class.  See the photos below...

George's mother (Bailey) asks George (Jeremiah) to bark only to get a meow, quack, oink, and moo

The vet (DJ) reaches deep down inside of George and pulls out a pig

Our storyteller (Landen W.) gives the actors a cue from the book

The people on the street (the rest of our class) stop in silence and give a confused look to George and his mom
