Today, we read this book. It is a story about three white mice who hide from a cat on white paper. While the cat is sleeping, they find paint and accidentally mix the primary colors together, making the three secondary colors. Then, they use the new colors to paint their paper, but they remember to leave a white part so they can still hide from the cat! While we read the story, we mixed "magic playdough" and "magic water" to create the new colors like the mice did. The kids now think I have magical powers...be sure to ask them about it!!
One of our small groups today was a color matching activity in which the students colored and hid a mouse in our classroom. Below are a few work samples...
Lexie hid her YELLOW mouse on YELLOW paper so the big cat couldn't find it!! Shhh!!
Gabby hid her RED mouse on the RED chair so the big cat couldn't find it!! Shhh!!
Landon G. hid his GREEN mouse on the GREEN drawer so the big cat couldn't find it!! Shhh!!
